Intro Just joined this community so thought would introduce ourselves we are Ben & Lea and live in Leeds (UK) and plan to get married in Israel early next spring (2009) at the moment the only people who know we are engaged are people we know via Livejournal (feel free to 'friend us') and the guy who lives next door to us.
In exactly 2 months In exactly 2 months from right now I'll be finishing up at the hairdressers and then hurrying home to get my makeup done and get dressed in my wedding gown. I'll have already picked up mine and zoe's bouquets from the florist and will probably be shaking like a leaf. Probably crying too. that will probably ruin my makeup....eeeekkk it's coming up so close.
Bachelorette/bachelor party So my fiance and I are trying to decide what we would like to do for our bachelor and bachelorette parties. Right now we are thinking of having a co party for us both which was actually his idea. My best friend thinks that's a bad idea. Since our wedding is so detailed and themed (i posted pics a few days ago)... should we have a party that reflects that theme... or just go get drunk with our friends??? Honestly neither me or my fiance are the lingerie and strippers kinda people. If our friends gave us "naughty" gifts we'd probably both throw up.. or be like .."...ummmm thanks?". I have no clue.... help?
Our huge jazz style endevor I loooove explaining our wedding. Ok picture an old movie, 1940's blond bombshell... black and white with a jazz/ganster theme.... that's our wedding. Everything from our cake to our invites to our plates and forks ... is all black and white. We are having everyone use a martini glass (plastic except for the wedding party). Our centerpieces are glass martini glasses with black silk ribbons tied around them and tealights inside. The favors are faux pearl necklaces, to go with the vintage theme. I am going to drape them around the centerpieces. My MOH is going to wear a swing style black dress (actually 1940's, I found it at a vintage shop) and the groom and best man are in ganster outfits. My dress was made by me and is just stunning. The flowers are all black roses and white carnations.
50's Vintage wedding dress. Is anyone having a 50's themed wedding? This would make a wonderful wedding dress for a casual wedding. Or perhaps a lovely getaway dress or even a beautiful dress to wear to the rehersal dinner.
Question about the invites? One of my cousins suggested that I put my deceased parents names on the invitations, so that the one side of my family will know who I am(we have a large family, basically this is my grandparents relatives). That side of the family will only recall my parents, apparently. Thing is, if I acknowledge my parents on the invites, we'd have to acknowledge my fiance's or it'd look funny. Well, he doesn't really have parents, as his father had nothing to do with him after his birth and his mother kicked him out at the age of 16. So, I don't want to acknowledge them, either. Basically, I was planning on having a moment of silence for all the deceased family members that are not able to be at the wedding, physically, that is. Then possibly a picture of my parents, at a table set for two, with some roses in a vase for them at the reception. Anyway, what do you think about including my late parents on the invite without my fiance's parents? So many people have passed on in my family that were the bridges that brought us all together in the past(ie: my grandparents and my mother), so I don't know.
edit: It would be worded as Christina, the daughter of the late Mr & Mrs, and Steve, would like to invite you to...

When we decided to have a Renaissance wedding I knew that we had to have invitations that reflected the feel of the wedding. I only need 50 or so invitations and it is the one area that I've been budget minded on, but it's also an area that I didn't want to skimp on, even knowing that the invites would likely end up in the landfill, because really, who keeps them beside the bride/groom or immediate family? Well I looked and looked and was pointed to this website. http://indianweddingcard.com/Weddingcards/scrollcard.asp?r=&p=&fr=0&t= . The cost of each invite varies and you can get samples and they'll even apply the cost of shipping and sample invite to the end cost of any invitations you buy. Because they are in India the shipping costs are *cough* a bit much. I've not picked out ONE invite yet, but these are some that I am drawn to, each for it's own reason. Our colors are light blue/navy blue, white, but I don't really feel that the invite needs to actually reflect they wedding colors. I haven't worked out the RSVP card or map issues yet either.
Hello! Hi, everyone! Congratulations on the impending weddings! I am a relatively new bride myself (just got married a year ago!). I had the wedding from hell! We ran out of time, we ran out of money, and a lot of our vendors didn't hold up their end of the bargain. (Except for our cake and flowers - if any of you are in the Delaware/Pennsylvania area I can't recommend more highly Serpe's Bakery on Kirkwood Hwy in Wilmington and Village Green Florist on the corner of Lea Blvd and Miller Rd also in Wilmington.) I had the photographer from hell, and a pastor who ended up being a racist (when our wedding party had like four different ethnicities participating!!!)
I bought my dress and accessories at David's Bridal, which was fine I guess, but I couldn't believe how little you got for all that money you paid for the accessories. Mine was like a really simple, practically unnoticeable beaded band, and it cost me ninety bucks and was so tight it gave me headaches. Killer. And there was really nothing unique there.
Right now I am working a corporate job (I'm on the operations side of international equities trading), and I would do anything to escape it. I've always made my own jewelry, and so I thought to myself, this could be it. This could be how I escape corporate. I make tiaras. Simple ones, ornate ones, really unique ones... I just did one for a girl who wanted to do an "Elven" wedding. I am still trying to build a client base and a reputation, so my jewelry is pretty inexpensive.
Here is an example of the kind of work that I do, and if you are at all interested, please click on the pic. It will take you to my livejournal, and you could leave me a post. This tiara I am selling at cost (because this is the first one I am trying to sell over the internet... Just want to get one under my belt.) This is the only pic I have up now, but I will consistently be updating my inventory. Everything I do is 100% customizeable to suit your wedding needs.
This tiara is made of 26 gauge gold plated wire with a copper core, and dozens and dozens of swarovski crystals. I was so enamoured with this one that I kept it on even after taking the picture. I cleaned the kitchen in it! I use a fine wire so it is extremely flexible and won't give you headaches. It fits any size head, and stays in place comfortable with two little miniscule bobby pins.
Greetings and an obsessive question. I'm not sure my wedding is wild/wacky...it's somewhat off beat. It's a Victorian/Fall Harvest with heavy Faery influences (and cats...love the cats.)
We are getting married in what i'm sure is a haunted victorian museum/mansion October 15th, 2005 (reception will be held in the same place.) I plan on putting faery's everywhere (even in my hair.) We are having a handfasting type ceremony...however i'm sneaking this in under my very xtian family.
I do have a question...and i've been trying to figure out how to fix it all day (without having to shell out money for more invites.) I misspelled hors d'oeuvres on my invites. ANyone have any creative ways to fix it? I did post something about this over at weddingplans (but it's not a cross post...this is just a question on how to creatively fix this snaffu.) SOmeone at weddingplans did say that in cali they spell hors d'oeuvres "orderves". Well I spelled it "horderves", and i was thinking of placing a small star sticker over the h... I'd like to hear from creative people...should i just relax and let this one go...or try to fix it creatively?
